Thai food by a real Thai… but I seldom find oyster mushrooms in my tom kha gai in Thailand.
Simplified tom yam goong made by a Farang chef. Interesting. Sure to get a lot of negative comments from Thais. Makes me feel a bit nervous about doing it myself.
Ikan bakar means grilled fish in Indonesian. You can easily find this at any Indonesian restaurant at Lucky Plaza. Actually, I don’t have any recipes for this dish. I’m just going by gut feeling. First, I bought a black pomfret from Sheng Siong. Next, I salted and oiled the fish. Lined the baking tray with aluminium foil and into the oven it went.
The fish was grilled on both sides. Once it started sizzling, I coated the fish with BBQ sauce and some chilli padi, then grilled again on both sides.
How did it go? Well, the fish was a bit fragile after grilling, so it tore a little here and there with all the turning. Perhaps I could improve in the presentation if I’m being paid to do this. All I can say is that it tastes a lot better than it looks.
