Cod Steak With Asparagus

You won’t believe how easy it is to cook this dish. First, a frozen cod steak from Sheng Siong (advertising for them for free). Next, marinate with salt and pepper.

Just wrap up the fish with aluminium foil and pop it into a pre-heated oven. I baked it at 220 deg C for 10 mins. Then, I unwrapped the foil, placed some cut asparagus and red chilli on top of the fish and grilled for another 5 mins.

Once the asparagus is cooked, I took the fish out of the oven, squeezed a lime, drizzled some soya sauce on the vegetable and we’re done.

Pair With Ngo Hiang

I didn’t expect much from this $20 wine, but turned out to be quite good. Medium body, fresh, fruity ad not too acidic. I think most people would recommend that we take this with red meat or some strong, spicy dish, but it actually works well with finger food like ngo hiang.

Here’s my dinner on a Friday night. One plate of ngo hiang and 2 glasses of wine. You’ll sleep like a baby.

Tuna Steak

I was hanging around Cold Storage after work last Saturday and decided to make something that the kids will like. Then I spotted this special offer. Tuna steak going for $9.25. And to make the queuing time worthwhile, I also I also got some fruits, vegetables and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Here’s the tuna steak marinating in terriyaki sauce. It looks like red meat, but it’s really tuna.

Into the oven it went and 15 minutes later, our tuna steak is ready and I can assure you that it tastes much better than canned tuna.

Here’s what it looks like after I’ve added a touch of BBQ sauce. True enough, the kids loved it.
