We can’t be talking about budget tours here. If you want to go on trips like this, you’ll have to pay for it. Chua Lam’s tours are not cheap. Having said that, it’s not easy to conduct food tours. You can’t pull it off without substance. Knowledge, experience and passion are very important. Incredibly, the rise of social media has allowed many ignoramus “influencers” into the game.
To be a credible food blogger, you can’t be eating for free or be obliged to give undue praises. But I disagree with Chua Lam on one point. There are many fake influencers and their hordes of stupid followers out there. The deplorable standards of our hawker food have “spoiled” a whole generation of undiscerning eaters.
