Homemade Salsa

After having all the sweet and rich stuff over Christmas and the New Year, it’s time to think healthy again. Salsa sauce is actually very easy to make. It doesn’t really matter if the proportions of your ingredients are not precise. It’s still taste great.

Let me go through the list first. Tomatoes and onions. I get rid of the tomato seeds as these will make the salsa too soggy. These two are actually your main ingredients. Next, you would have some capsicum, lots of garlic, coriander leaves or Chinese celery or cilantro and a couple of green chillies. That’s it.

Just put everything into the blender (tomatoes first, I made a mistake here). Blend well, then put the mixture in a pot and bring to a boil. Some people like their salsa raw, but I think it’s better to boil it so that the unused portions can be kept for a few days in the fridge.

For seasoning, just add a couple of tablespoons of ketchup, one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of cumin powder.

Salsa goes with tortilla chips of course. It’s a really tasty and healthy snack you can prepare in minutes using some readily available ingredients. Try it yourself.
